The annual fee is determined by your credit report and like the other Credit One Bank credit cards will be $0 to $75 the first year and $0 to $99 thereafter. Your first-year annual fee will be deducted from your initial credit line. After that, the annual fee is split into 12 equal payments, with one payment billed each month. This card also comes with card benefits including:

  • 24/7 fraud monitoring

Credit One Bank Cards vs. Milestone Gold MasterCard

The Milestone Gold MasterCard is a popular card for building or rebuilding credit as well. With this card, you can see if you prequalify without a hard inquiry and you can choose a custom design for the card. One of the differences between the Milestone Card and the Credit One Bank Cards is it includes MasterCard Gold card benefits.

The APR and the annual fee or the Milestone Gold MasterCard also vary. For instance, your annual fee could be $75 the first year and then $99 each year afterward, with an APR of 23.90%. Other options include an opening fee of $5 to $50. Fortunately, if you do get the card with the $50 account opening fee, your annual fee for the first year is the lowest at $50 and then $99 each year afterward. Any fees are deducted from your initial credit line, which could start at $300.

Although both cards help to build your credit, the Milestone Gold MasterCard doesn’t provide an opportunity to qualify for a $0 annual fee. Further, there are no cards with the Milestone issuer that offer rewards.

Credit One Bank Cards vs. First Premier Bank Credit Card

The First Premier Bank Credit Card is another option for building or rebuilding credit. This card comes with an APR of 36% as well as a one-time fee of $95. Your annual fee will vary according to your credit limit. For example, if you have a $300 credit line, your annual fee will be $75 the first year and then $45 annually. After the first year, there is a monthly fee $6.25.

In another example, if your credit limit is $400, your annual fee will be $100 the first year and then $45 annually. The monthly fee billed is also $6.25 per month. If your annual fee is $500, the annual fee is $125 the first year, then $49.00 annually, with a monthly fee of $10.40 per month. Keep in mind also, that your initial fees are deducted from the credit limit and will lower the credit limit you begin with when you get your card.

In this matchup, the First Premier Bank Credit Card loses out a bit because not only there is no opportunity for a $0 annual fee, but the fees are a bit higher than the fees for the Credit One Bank cards. In fact, the APR of 36% is among the highest APRs you’ll find with any credit card on the market. Further, there are also no rewards programs with the First Premier cards.

Credit One Bank Cards vs. Merrick Bank Secured Visa

Although it is a secured credit card, the Merrick Bank Secured Visa is a popular card for people who are in the process of building their credit. If you are approved for this card, you must make a security deposit in the amount of $200 to $3,000. You then receive a credit card with a credit limit equal to your security deposit. Like the other cards, you can choose the card design you prefer, and you get card benefits like $0 fraud liability and various online management tools for keeping track of your account.

The APR for this card is 18.45%. The annual fee is $36 the first year, which is deducted from your credit limit the first year and billed at $3 per month thereafter.

Although the Merrick Bank Secured Visa Card is a secured card, it comes out slightly ahead of the others simply because there is no complicated fee structure. In fact, the annual fee of $36 is one of the lowest you’ll find if you have poor credit. It also offers a slightly lower APR in comparison to the APRs you might get with the Credit One Bank cards or other subprime credit cards. There are also no rewards programs with this card.

Plus, you have a chance of getting a higher credit limit, based on the amount of your security deposit. With most of the other cards, you risk getting a card with a limit of a little more than $200 once the fees are deducted. In addition, one of the benefits of a secured card is that if you manage your account responsibly, you can build your credit over time and eventually get your deposit refunded.
