bad credit required

prepaid card

fees from $5 per month to $1 per transaction

Editors Review

It is exactly the same product as ACE Elite Visa Prepaid card issued by MetaBank, just in a different wrapping. Regardless of what design you choose – Pink, Gold or Black - you have the following plan options:

Pay-As-You-Go

  • No monthly fee
  • Transaction fee- $1 per every signature transaction, 2$ per every PIN transaction

FeeAdvantage

  • $9.95 monthly fee
  • No transaction fees

Direct Deposit FeeAdvantage Plan

  • $5 monthly fee
  • No transaction fees
  • Need to receive at least $500 direct deposit in one month to qualify for a plan

Automatically a pay-as-you-go plan is activated, to change a plan you need to call or go online

Pros

  • No credit check
  • FDIC insured MetaBank account is connected to a card

Cons

  • Hefty fees associated with a card – even with a very low use of the card you will be charged for at least $5

Verdict

Usually, there is no need to have a prepaid credit card. It is a rare situation when you cannot get a checking account (e.g. if you committed check fraud in the past or your previous account was closed by bank with outstanding debt or fees).

Most people can apply for a free checking account – Capital One 360 is one of the options.
