  • no annual fee
  • 0% on balance transfers for 12 months
  • max cash back is not separated by categories but driven by spending

Cons

  • 3% foreign transaction fee

Verdict

You get a good cash back rate of 1.5% or 1.75% either way - by having a PNC Performance checking account of a certain level (which is either have an annual fee or require a minimum balance). If you do not comply with those rules, you stay with 1.25% cash back on everything - better than regular 1% rate, but not exceptional.

Good alternatives to the card would be US bank Cash+ or AmEx Blue Cash EveryDay that offer up to 3-5% back on selected categories
