Be aware of these details:

  • Intro APR can apply only to purchases, only to balance transfers, or to both.
  • For balance transfers, zero APR usually applies only to transfers made within 30-90 first days of the card. A balance transfer fee of about 3% generally applies.

During the introductory period, you still need to make minimum payments. If you miss, the bank will be happy to charge you a late payment fee and retrospectively apply a penalty APR as high as 25-30%.

  • By the end of the introductory period, you need to repay your balance in full; everything that is not paid off will yield an interest.
