Verdict

The card offers a good rewards rate:

  • 1.5 miles per $1 spent (vs. average 1 mile)
  • 3 miles for Virgin Atlantic purchases (other airline cards usually offer you 2 miles per $1)

Experts say that Virgin Atlantic miles cost about 1.5 cents per mile which is not the best miles value, but still well above the average. For comparison, one of the best: Alaskan Airlines offers 2 cents per 1 mile, and Chase offer 2.1 cents per mile.

The only real drawback is a $90 annual fee, but if you are an active card user, you can earn 40,000 miles ($600 equivalent) in the first year of your membership.
